This
Two Pesos banknote was issued by the Central Bank of the Philippines
in 1949-1969. It was printed by Thomas De La Rue Company, Limited,
London. The front of this note shows the portrait of Jose Rizal at
the left side. The back of this note shows the landing of Magellan in
the Philippines in 1521. The color of the obverse is black overprint
which was printed on a light blue & tan background.While the
color of the reverse is blue.
It was signed by Carlos Garcia as President of the Philippines and Andres V. Castillo as Acting Governor of the Central Bank. According to Guy N. Davis, in his book entitled: Collecting Banknotes of the Central Bank of the Philippines (1988), there were 10 Million notes printed. This note belongs to the Serial Numbers from BC 000,001- BM 1,000,000.
