This
One Peso banknote was issued by the Central Bank of the Philippines in
1949-1969. It was printed by Thomas De La Rue Company, Limited,
London. The front of this note shows the portrait of Apolinario
Mabini at the left side. The back of this note shows the Barasoain
Church in Malolos, where President Emilio Aguinaldo proclaimed the
First Philippine Republic in 1898. The color of this note is black
which was printed on a light green & cream background.
It
was signed by Carlos P. Garcia as President of the Philippines and
Andres V. Castillo as Acting Governor of the Central Bank. According
to Guy N. Davis, in his book entitled: Collecting Banknotes of the
Central Bank of the Philippines (1988), there were 20 Million notes
printed. This note belongs to the Serial Numbers from GN
000,001-HH 1,000,000.
