This Five Hundred Pesos banknote was issued by the Central Bank of the Philippines in 1949-1969. It was printed by Thomas De La Rue Company, Limited, London. The front of this note shows the portrait of Manuel Roxas at the left side. The back of this note shows the Central Bank Building (which formerly housed the Manila Mint). The color of the obverse of this note is black which was printed on a light tan & purple background. While the reverse is purple in color.
It was signed by Elpidio Quirino as President of the Philippines and M.Cuaderno as Governor of the Central Bank. According to Guy N. Davis, in his book entitled: Collecting Banknotes of the Central Bank of the Philippines (1988), there were 20,000 notes printed. This note belongs to the Serial Numbers from A 000,001- A 020,000.
