After issuing banknotes, 11th Series, of all denominations, the Bank of Thailand proceeded with the issue of banknotes, 12th Series, in three denominations : 10 Baht, 20 Baht and 100 Baht. With the intention of glorifying Thai monarchs in history who have been revered and honored with the title The Great, the Bank of Thailand had engravings of monuments created to extol those monarchs who were presented on all banknotes in The Great Series.
เป็นธนบัตรที่มีจุดมุ่งหมายเพื่อเผยแผ่พระเกียรติคุณของสมเด็จพระบูรพมหากษัตริยาธิราชเจ้าที่ได้รับการถวายพระราชสมัญญาภิไธย "มหาราช" จึงได้เชิญพระบรมราชานุสาวรีย์ของพระมหากษัตริย์ที่ได้รับการเทิดพระเกียรติดังกล่าว มาเป็นภาพประธานด้านหลังของธนบัตร มี ๓ ชนิดราคา ได้แก่ ๑๐ บาท ๒๐ บาท และ ๑๐๐ บาท

50 Baht-The Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary of Their Majesties King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit and the Coronation
The obverse shows the portrait of Thailand's Majesties King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen SiriKit. The Monograms Phor Por Ror and Sor Kor, the picture of the Cornnation ceremony, the investiture ceremony of Her Majesty the Queen, the Guruda, and a flamboyant motif are supplementary elements.

The characteristics of this series were similar to those of the 4th series printed by Thomas De La Rue & Company Limited and the Royal Thai Survey Department, except the portrait which was King Rama IX. There were 6 denominations: 50 satang, 1, 5, 10, 20, and 100 Baht. Each denomination had many types. They had been issued in 1948. As the 9th series had been circulated for over 20 years, people were quite familiar with the colors of each type and denomination, making them difficult to change. Therefore it can be assumed that the colors of the 9th Series are the standard for current Thai banknotes.
มีรูปแบบเหมือนกับธนบัตรแบบ ๔ แต่เปลี่ยนพระบรมฉายาสาทิสลักษณ์เป็น พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวภูมิพลอดุลยเดช มี ๖ ชนิดราคา ได้แก่ ๕๐ สตางค์ ๑ บาท ๕ บาท ๑๐ บาท ๒๐ บาท และ ๑๐๐ บาท พิมพ์ที่บริษัท โทมัส เดอ ลา รู จำกัด เริ่มทยอยออกใช้เมื่อพุทธศักราช ๒๔๙๑ และด้วยเหตุที่ธนบัตรแบบเก้า มีระยะเวลาการนำออกใช้นานกว่า ๒๐ ปี ประชาชนจึงคุ้นเคยกับสีของธนบัตรแต่ละชนิดราคาจนยากที่จะเปลี่ยนแปลงได้ จึงอาจกล่าวได้ว่า สีของธนบัตรแบบเก้า เป็นต้นแบบของการกำหนดสีของธนบัตรในปัจจุบัน

At the end of the Greater East Asia War in August 1945, Thai government had tried to contact Thomas De La Rue & Company Limited. As the company had been damaged during the War, it was unable to accept these orders. The Thai government thus turned to the U.S. government for assistance which was very helpful. The U.S. government had assigned the Bureau of Engraving and Printing prepare the printing plates and the Tudor Press company do the actual printing of the 8th series for Thai government.
The front portrayed King Rama VIII at young age as main element and the Phra Pathom Chedi as minor element in every denomination. On the back of all denominations was the constitution placed on a pedestal tray. This is the 1 Baht denomination which was printed by Tudor Press Inc. and issued in 1946 during the reign of King Rama IX.
เมื่อสงครามมหาเอเชียบูรพายุติลงในเดือนสิงหาคม ๒๔๘๘ รัฐบาลไทยได้ติดต่อสั่งพิมพ์ธนบัตรไปยังบริษัท โทมัส เดอ ลา รู จำกัด อีกครั้ง แต่เนื่องจากโรงพิมพ์ของบริษัทดังกล่าวได้รับความเสียหายจากภัยสงครามไม่สามารถดำเนินงานได้ รัฐบาลไทยจึงติดต่อให้รัฐบาลสหรัฐอเมริกาจัดพิมพ์ธนบัตรให้ชั่วคราว โดยโรงพิมพ์ธนบัตร กระทรวงการคลัง (Bureau of Engraving and Printing, Treasury Department) ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา เป็นผู้ทำแม่แบบแม่พิมพ์ธนบัตร และว่าจ้างให้บริษัท ทิวดอร์ เพรส จำกัด (Tudor Press Inc.) เป็นผู้พิมพ์
ด้านหน้าเชิญพระบรมฉายาสาทิสลักษณ์พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวอานันทมหิดลเมื่อทรงพระเยาว์เป็นภาพประธาน และภาพพระปฐมเจดีย์เป็นภาพประกอบของแต่ละชนิดราคา ส่วนด้านหลังเป็นภาพรัฐธรรมนูญประดิษฐานเหนือพานแว่นฟ้า มี ๕ ชนิดราคา ได้แก่ ๑ บาท ๕ บาท ๑๐ บาท ๒๐ บาท และ ๑๐๐ บาท เริ่มออกใช้เมื่อพุทธศักราช ๒๔๘๙ ในรัชกาลที่ ๙ เนื่องจากธนบัตรแบบแปดสั่งพิมพ์ในรัชกาลที่ ๘ แต่ส่งเข้ามาถึงประเทศไทย เมื่อเดือนตุลาคม ๒๔๘๙ ซึ่งขณะนั้น พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวภูมิพลอดุลยเดช ได้เสด็จขึ้นเถลิงถวัลยราชสมบัติแล้ว
