At the end of the Greater East Asia War in August 1945, Thai government had tried to contact Thomas De La Rue & Company Limited. As the company had been damaged during the War, it was unable to accept these orders. The Thai government thus turned to the U.S. government for assistance which was very helpful. The U.S. government had assigned the Bureau of Engraving and Printing prepare the printing plates and the Tudor Press company do the actual printing of the 8th series for Thai government. The front portrayed King Rama VIII at young age as main element and the Phra Pathom Chedi as minor element in every denomination. On the back of all denominations was the constitution placed on a pedestal tray. This is the 1 Baht denomination which was printed by Tudor Press Inc. and issued in 1946 during the reign of King Rama IX. เมื่อสงครามมหาเอเชียบูรพายุติลงในเดือนสิงหาคม ๒๔๘๘ รัฐบาลไทยได้ติดต่อสั่งพิมพ์ธนบัตรไปยังบริษัท โทมัส เดอ ลา รู จำกัด อีกครั้ง แต่เนื่องจากโรงพิมพ์ของบริษัทดังกล่าวได้รับความเสียหายจากภัยสงครามไม่สามารถดำเนินงานได้ รัฐบาลไทยจึงติดต่อให้รัฐบาลสหรัฐอเมริกาจัดพิมพ์ธนบัตรให้ชั่วคราว โดยโรงพิมพ์ธนบัตร กระทรวงการคลัง (Bureau of Engraving and Printing, Treasury Department) ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา เป็นผู้ทำแม่แบบแม่พิมพ์ธนบัตร และว่าจ้างให้บริษัท ทิวดอร์ เพรส จำกัด (Tudor Press Inc.) เป็นผู้พิมพ์ ด้านหน้าเชิญพระบรมฉายาสาทิสลักษณ์พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวอานันทมหิดลเมื่อทรงพระเยาว์เป็นภาพประธาน และภาพพระปฐมเจดีย์เป็นภาพประกอบของแต่ละชนิดราคา ส่วนด้านหลังเป็นภาพรัฐธรรมนูญประดิษฐานเหนือพานแว่นฟ้า มี ๕ ชนิดราคา ได้แก่ ๑ บาท ๕ บาท ๑๐ บาท ๒๐ บาท และ ๑๐๐ บาท เริ่มออกใช้เมื่อพุทธศักราช ๒๔๘๙ ในรัชกาลที่ ๙ เนื่องจากธนบัตรแบบแปดสั่งพิมพ์ในรัชกาลที่ ๘ แต่ส่งเข้ามาถึงประเทศไทย เมื่อเดือนตุลาคม ๒๔๘๙ ซึ่งขณะนั้น พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวภูมิพลอดุลยเดช ได้เสด็จขึ้นเถลิงถวัลยราชสมบัติแล้ว Source:bot.or.th.aspx
